We purchased a video camera (HV20) a while ago and I finally got around to doing some simple editing.  This is a short video around 2 minutes.  It’s my first try so go easy on me!

Baby Room – Finished!

October 23rd, 2008 | Posted by admin in baby - (0 Comments)

After a lot of hard work we’re proud to say that the baby room has been completed!  Just yesterday we cleaned out all of the tools and made some final paint touch-ups.  We’re really happy with the way everything turned out and we hope our little guy enjoys it.

Here are some of the details:

Wall Mural

Chanin spent a TON of time drawing and painting all of the cute little animals on the walls.  She’s quite the artiste!  She got all of the paint from the craft store and spent a lot of time mixing colors to get things just right.  I think everything turned out perfect.

Paint, Chair Rail, and Shelves

We found really nice chair railing at Home Depot.  Before installing it I had to sand and paint it to get it ready.  I think I did pretty good for a first timer.  Also, we painted the lower portion of the wall a nice green color to make things stand out a bit.  The shelves required sanding and painting and about $20 worth of hardware to install.  I like Ace Hardware because they’re helpful, but sheesh they’re expensive for some things!

Other Stuff

A lot of other work went into the room as well.  Typical things like cleaning closets, organizing stuff, vacuuming, smashing fingers, drilling holes in the wrong place, etc.  Luckily, I have 10 fingers and putty so no big deal.

We’ll post more soon about some of the other things we’ve been doing to prepare.  Here’s a little teaser: mini baby socks, diapers (clean), and new baby gadgets.  Now we have you on the edge of your seat!

Baby Showers and More

October 15th, 2008 | Posted by admin in baby - (1 Comments)

We’ve been sooo busy getting ready and just haven’t taken the time to post recently.  Soon we’ll be posting pictures of our new arrival (due around November 10th now) and we’re really excited.  Chanin is still working on painting the room and it’s just about done.  And I recently put up a ceiling fan and will be putting up some shelves soon.  We hope to have some more pictures of the room next week but we’ll just have to see how it goes!

So, on to the baby showers:

First, we went to a baby shower which was put on by some of Chanin’s previous coworkers (at OC Child Support).  It was completely unexpected and we’re very grateful that they did that for us.  We received a lot of nice things and enjoyed some cake and punch.  The cake was really yummy!  After this shower we went on our “baby moon” vacation.

Then, when we returned from our vacation we had our next baby shower, which was thrown by Chanin’s parents and her younger sister Lori.  Most of the pictures are near the end of this post so keep reading.

We spent a lot of time preparing for this one.  Chanin prepared all of the games, which included:

  • A Candy Count
  • Make a Baby Out of Play-Doh
  • Baby Animal Name Match
  • The Price is Right
  • Baby Bingo
  • Guess What’s In the Diaper
  • Baby Food Match

The games were a blast and Chanin did a really good job getting everything ready.

For food Chanin and I made sandwiches which consisted of:

  • 2 6-packs of 14 inch wheat baguettes
  • 3 6-packs of 14 inch white baguettes
  • Salami
  • Ham
  • Turkey
  • Provolone
  • Cheddar
  • Swiss
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato

Luckily Aunt Roxy showed up just in time to help with the sandwiches since they were taking us much longer than expected.  We’re glad we chose to make them but we’ll remember for next time that 2 people can only do so much!  I guess this is just preparing us for a baby right?

The food turned out great so it was all worth it.  In addition to the sandwiches we had a lot of other things (some which were brought in by guests).  The other stuff included:

  • Pasta salad (thanks Don!)
  • Macaroni salad
  • Potato salad (thanks Mima!)
  • Pita and Bagel Chips
  • Hummus and Artichoke Dips
  • Fruit trays (thanks Roxy!)
  • Cake
  • Possibly some other things, sorry if I forgot you!

We have to give a special thanks to Chanin’s parents for the shower and support. And also to my Dad and Jennifer, and Mima for their special gifts.

It was great to celebrate with our family and friends and we had a great turnout.  We received many excellent, and much needed, gifts that we really appreciate.  And, our baby thanks all of you as well!
